The Town of Lakeville received its name from the chain of broad and beautiful lakes which occupy approximately 4,000 acres of the township. Lakeville was settled in 1717 as a western parish of Middleborough and became incorporated on May 13, 1853 once it split apart from Middleborough. Lakeville contains 36.16 square miles of area and is located in Plymouth County, with a population of 10,602.
Lakeville has been recognized as one of the top places to reside in Massachusetts by Boston Magazine, highlighting the town’s abundance of local amenities and picturesque ponds. It is an ideal community for families. I have been a resident of Lakeville for 18 years. A focal point of the town is Ted William’s Camp, offering trails, fishing areas, a playground, a skate park, a volleyball court, a basketball court, and numerous sports fields.
